Alan’s enquiry
Alan found us through the Sigenergy website, listed as a local Approved Installer.
The energy use of Alan’s home was on the lower end for a property of its size; however, with the imminent installation of an Air Source Heat Pump by another contractor, the electricity use was expected to double!
Recently retired, Alan wanted greater control over his energy costs and to protect himself from rising electricity prices.
The challenges, and how we solved them
We ran through lots of designs and presented a few options to Alan for his consideration. Our designs utilised all the available space of the three most productive roof areas.
Alan also wanted the system to operate during power cuts, so we incorporated a Whole Home Backup Gateway into our designs.
During the higher generation months, the system will produce surplus power that can be sold back to the grid, through a Smart Export Guarantee, or SEG tariff. The income from the export payments can then be used to purchase cheap electricity overnight during the Winter months, to compensate for the lower generation of the solar system.
We sized the Battery Storage to maximise the overall returns of the system, reducing the annual electricity bill by an estimated 93%!

Steve & Megan’s enquiry
Steve was referred to us by a friend, who was an existing customer of Hybrid Energy.
The energy consumption was high, at 26,000kWh per annum, due to the Ground Source Heat Pump installed at the property.
Approaching retirement, Steve & Megan wanted to become as self-sufficient as possible, so they can spend their retirement income on things they enjoy, not on an ever-increasing electricity bill.
The challenges, and how we solved them
Due to the considerable electricity consumption, a roof-mounted system would have made little difference, so we opted for a ground-mounted design.
As part of our works, we completed a G99 application with the DNO. The response wasn’t what we had hoped for, as the local transformer was near capacity, so we opted to upgrade the electricity supply into the property from single-phase to three-phase.
We project managed everything, including the planning application, supply upgrade, all groundworks, and the construction of a bespoke external enclosure, along with all the usual Solar PV items.
A complex undertaking, but we thoroughly enjoyed carrying out this work for such a lovely couple. We wish them a long and happy retirement!

We had been recommended to use Hybrid and we're glad we did. The personal touch is what sets them apart from a multi national sales company. Matt provided our detailed, tailored quotation after explaining the benefits, whys and wherefors of what type of solar aray to go for. He then attended, along with his son and employee to fit our kit. They were tidy and efficient and returned to provide a handover the next day when we were home. He did all the paperwork ready for selling back to the grid.

We had Solar Panels and Battery Storage installed by Matt back in July 2023. All very professional and working well since then. We've been really happy with the savings we're making on electricity and being able to sell excess back to the grid. We're moving home soon so will hopefully use Matt again in the near future.

We’ve been really impressed in all dealings with Matt and his team. We’ve had panels installed, and a battery added subsequently, and it’s all gone smoothly. Work on site has been very professional and tidy. Communications have been very effective: Matt has always come back quickly and helpfully, and we trust his advice and his problem-solving approach.

We were recommended Hybrid Energy by a friend and contacted Matt Barter (Director) who asked some initial questions and then visited to complete the quote. He was very helpful and presented various options, we agreed to go ahead and all works were carried out on time with no disruption to us. The system has been brilliant to date and we believe the payback time will be sooner than quoted which is great news. We had a couple of minor issues that Matt promptly resolved.
